From Shari: My Medical Journey, Parts 3 & 4

 Part 3

I happened to see an ad for an Integrative Medicine doctor in Fort Wayne on Facebook. I messaged them to ask if they accepted insurance.

The doctor asked for a very detailed medical history and spent close to 2 hours with me the first time I went to see him. He explained how asthma worked in a way it had never been explained to me, and told me after we received the first set of labs back that I had Hashimoto's Disease. He also told me I had Leaky Gut from all the antibiotics I've had in my lifetime. He also never questioned my Celiac Disease diagnosis.

The takeaway is that we all know our own body the best. If something feels off, insist on tests until you get answers and don't be afraid to fire a doctor if need be.

Part 4

I take so many vitamins and feel like I'm throwing away a lot of money. I found a Facebook group last year called Holistic Health Circle/A Naturopathic Doctor's Perspective. I've been messaging the doctor and she's been amazing at answering basic questions even though I'm not yet a patient of hers.

I've decided to do the DNA test her practice offers to find my Root Cause (much like I found my root cause for my 24/7 headache after 11 years and countless doctor appointments). I want to stop thinking about my health constantly and just take the supplements and meds I need to be my healthiest self.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned. I will blog more as I learn more.
